Paused... Part 2

Seasonal ingredients from the garden by The Garden Gate Flower Company

Today the Cornish mizzle lifted and with it took my creative block.

Having started the morning with an energising swim, I returned home to the cosy kitchen and began creating a bowl arrangement which I captured on video. If you head over to my Instagram account I will share it there for you. It was nice to do this again. At first I thought it might be a bit triggering, after all I started doing these in lockdown. However, I actually enjoyed creating an arrangement for myself. Normally I would happily settle for a bunch of branches in a jar at this time of year!

The youngest is off school today with a horrid sore throat (when will all these bugs go?!). He appeared in the kitchen and said ‘that looks a bit messy’. I told him most of my arrangements looked rather messy but perhaps better described as ‘wild’ - ‘oh’ he replied ‘well if that’s the look you are going for mum you’ve nailed it’…. I’ll take this as a compliment.

As I placed the arrangement near the window to steal any possible light to capture it, I was reminded once again that this task can absorb an entire afternoon. The desire for the perfect angle, light and composition - surely there is something else I should be doing…
