The late season has resulted in some bonuses with the combination of late tulips and rannunclus with the start of lilac and bearded iris it seems rather a treat to have a such beauties to choose from.
Choosing a colour scheme that really represents the month you are getting married in couldn't be more important then in May. May is predominately about pinks and lilacs in the garden. Face flowers, sorry florist speak, large key feature flowers, are harder to come by as we all hang out for the start of peony season (generally mid June in the UK). Instead May in our garden is all about embracing smaller delicate flowers. I suppose that is why the pain of everything being so late was a rather nice pay off for in early May.
Alas the early rannunclus which we have enjoyed so much is now over.......but....on Monday we picked our first Peony!!!! A trial of indoor growing with a blog post coming soon!
