Trevenna Barns - Early September Wedding
Katrina and David booked quite late in my season as they were due to get married in Italy. However, due to the pandemic they made the decision to move their wedding plans to Cornwall instead.
I was so excited to work with Katrina as Italy has always been a favourite destination for me and a huge inspiration for my work. I wanted to bring Katrina that little nod to her original plans. Marrying at the beginning of September generally gives you the option to still go rather summer like with the flowers or head in the autumn direction. Therefore, it is always rather fun to take a varied selection of weddings at this time of year as the results can be completely different.
With a summer vibe certainly on Katrina’s menu we opted for soft greens with milky cream tones. It may not have been as hot as Italy, but the weather in Cornwall did not disappoint, they got their outdoor wedding and what a celebration they had!
The wedding was beautifully curated by luxury wedding planner Fern Godfrey.
Congratulations Katrina & David - Italy’s loss was certainly Cornwall’s gain!
The Detail
The Bridal Party Flowers
Taking a very simple, elegant palette of white and cream we created bouquets with plenty of sage green foliage to echo Katrina’s original plan to marry in Italy. Katrina’s bridal bouquet was filled with roses, dahlias and Japanese anemones. We added soft Mimosa foliage to create plenty of movement and finished it off with ribbon from Lancaster & Cornish.
The bridesmaids in contrast had lots of eucalyptus which was lightened with white campanula and dried elements like sea lavender.
The Ceremony
Large double height installations were created to frame where Katrina and David took their vows. A network of large branches and hydrangeas were used to create a seasonal backdrop which blended with the beautiful surrounding gardens of Trevenna Barns.
The ends of the aisle were dressed with living planters which were then re-purposed later in the day into the reception space. Each of the chairs were finished with floral pew ends tied with velvet ribbons, framing the aisle for Katrina’s arrival.
The Reception
The show stopper installation of the event, for me, was the living beam we created above the reception table. Filled with passion vines which hung down amongst the lights this piece was packed with a mix of seasonal flowers and foliage. Large branch work created an organic shape to the overall installation piece.
On the tables low bowls filled with sweet smelling roses, mint foliage and a mix of dahlias. We chose to make these arrangements ‘pop’ a little more with a slightly stronger colour palette of pinks and oranges which worked wonderfully in the evening candlelight.
Amongst the low bowl’s were simple bud vases linking all the arrangements down the table.
