Trevenna Barns Wedding for Holly & Ryan - April
Kicking off my wedding season in April, Easter weekend, with such a lovely event to be involved in. Holly was a wonderful client and wanted to embrace all the seasonality in the garden so my brief was very loose. Together we agreed it should be light, airy and elegant.
Thank you to photographer, Katy Jones for capturing so many beautiful images.
Bridal Party Flowers
The flowers at this time of the year really are so beautiful. Often these flowers have come from rather ugly bulbs to produce the most delicate flower in spring - it always seems such a commitment of hope from the previous autumn when they are planted in the earnest for their spring arrival.
Mixing tulips, delicate narcissi and ranunculus with flowering branches and twirling sweetly scented jasmine I just adored Holly’s bouquet. For the bridesmaids we brought a tiny hint of blue into their arrangements to draw on the bridal party being in Navy. I love how this all came together and the little flower girl - what a cutie.
Ceremony Flowers
With it being an early season wedding we were mindful it might not be an outside wedding. So we created arrangements that could be moved very easily and at the last minute. However, the sun gods shone and Holly and Ryan got their outdoor ceremony!
Dressing the staircase with trailing ivy kept the design simple and allowed her bouquet to shine. For the ceremony I created one large milk churn arrangement which sat on the raised step. I often tell my clients it’s better to have one big arrangement then several small ones which often get lost in a crowd. The milk churn gave a lovely frame to their service and Holly placed her bouquet on the registry table when they signed their marriage certificate.
To mark out the start of the aisle we placed a living planter on each side on the floor. These items were all repurposed into the reception space to be enjoyed for the rest of the event.
Reception Flowers
Holly celebrated her Easter wedding by adding little gold Lindt bunnies as wedding favours to the tables. The tables were kept really simple with seasonal bud vases, bare wood and cream linen runner. I loved the overall look.
The beam had two foliage installations placed on them and my couple opted for the hanging lights to bring warmth to their early spring wedding.
For me this was one of those weddings I will remember for a long time. It showed how British flowers can be used outside of what is considered a normal British season.
