Trevenna Barns - September Wedding
Rachel and Jonnie married at the end of September in the beautiful grounds of Trevenna Barns on the moors close by to where I grow my flowers. Whilst both Rachel and Jonnie were world class rowers Rachel’s other passion was garden design and for her it was really important that her flowers were garden grown allowing the seasons to dictate the final choices.
With gardens in mind I used foliage that was starting to turn like the season, soft coppers and burnt tones formed the framework for the arrangements. Dahlias in muted colour palettes complimented the arching branches ensuring that arrangements remained wild and unstructured. Final flourishes of coral pops brought a fun festival vibe to the overall event.
All these beautiful images were captured by Hannah of Keeper Creative.
The Detail
The Bridal Party Flowers
Rachel’s bouquet was filled with seasonal flowers from delicate cosmos to showstopper varieties like Cafe au Lait Dahlias. The bouquet was finished with plant dyed silk ribbon by Lancaster & Cornish. On the morning of the wedding a floral comb was created to sit above an ‘up do’ - picking out flowers used within the bridal party collection this pulled all elements of the bridal party together.
The Ceremony
Soaking up the late summer Cornish sunshine Jonnie and Rachel married outside. Beautiful streaming ribbons were created in complimenting colours to create an entrance to the ceremony space. The arbour was decorated both sides, one being slightly larger than the other, thus creating a more natural approach to the floral installation. The installation was created without the use of floristry foam.
This space benefits from either a double sided or single sided installation as the natural oak framework compliments my natural designs beautifully.
The Reception
Bringing the outside in was one of the most important pieces of the design for the reception and therefore the styling of the beam was a top priority. This is a wonderful addition to any Trevenna wedding and I would highly recommend having this beam styled.
Jonnie and Rachel wanted the beam to be open and airy with arching branches and trailing foliage that would soften the overall look of the design. Large dahlias were clustered in sections to lift the colour palette and make the overall design pop!
Along the tables I created seasonal arrangements in my medium sized Leach Pottery bowls. Whilst the tables become busy with all the elements of the party these arrangements broke up the table design and allowed guests to lean in and see elements from my garden.
